Icon

A representation of Christ, the Virgin Mary, or a saint, especially one painted in oil on a wooden panel, depicted in a traditional Byzantine style and venerated in the Eastern Church.

Iconostasis

In Eastern Christianity, a wall of icons and religious paintings, separating the nave from the sanctuary in a church.

Incised

Pattern that is produced by cutting or etching into the material. The design is engraved below the surface.
